This HiAce has Toyota’s 3L model 2.8 liter diesel engine, with automatic transmission, and high/low range true 4wd. It clocks a low 93,000 original miles, which is really only getting started for Toyota's 3L, known to exceed 500,000 miles before a rebuild is required.
This Hiace, the longest of its generation, was converted into a camper in Japan in 1995.
The exterior cosmetic condition is excellent. Common among the campers from this era, this van has custom upholstery throughout, including matching floral seats. We haven’t had a build just like this one in the past, but it looks to sleep 4, with the lower bench/booth seating converting into a bed, as well as the upper. The top bunk appears to utilize a mechanism that lowers the bed down for sleeping, and raises it for traveling. Status of this mechanism is unknown and not guaranteed.
Consistent with all the vans we sell, it will receive a full timing belt job and maintenance update: new timing belt, new idler and tensioner pulleys, new camshaft and crankshaft seal, new water pump, new thermostat, new radiator cap, coolant flush, transmission fluid, fresh motor oil and filter, all new drive belts, new fuel filter, new air filter, fresh front and rear differential oil, fresh transfer case oil. On top of all that, she'll get brand new all-terrain tires, a suspension lift, all new fuel lines, all new shocks, and all new coolant hoses. The van will also receive a full inspection, and any other incidental repairs will be made prior to the final sale release. Just before the final transfer, it will receive a full detail, inside and out.
A large part of what you gain when purchasing your vehicle from Vanlife Northwest is our knowledge base and experience throughout the life of your adventure mobile. I can confidently say no one in the US has more experience with these vans, and solutions for problems gleaned only from that first hand experience.
Pricing:
OPTION 1: $35,000 - We sell the van fully mechanically overhauled and detailed, but we do not address any of the interior camper components (bed, bench, table, closet, sink, refrigerator, flooring, cabinets, electrical, lighting). The camper interior would be sold as-is, and would be best suited for someone looking for a large, mechanically overhauled Hiace camper ready to upgrade as desired.
OPTION 2: We can add camper overhaul work “a la carte”. Pricing for each upgrade or repair can be discussed in detail at the time of reservation.
Please call us with any questions, and to secure the van.
